Seoul, South Korea is creating “high-heel friendly” parking spaces for women drivers in the city. I.love.this.idea. The city has already painted 4,969 pink parking spaces (yes, pink) and plans to paint thousands more private and public parking spaces to be women, and high-heel friendly. The idea came about so that women wouldn’t have to walk far from their cars to the mall entrance or wherever their feet take them. The parking space project comes from South Korea’s Women Friendly Seoul Project; the city is notoriously known for being “macho” and wants to include women in their thriving city standards. In a way I could see how this could be offensive to women and make you go hm? But on the other hand, anyone that knows me knows I’m kind of lazy (lol). So I would definitely love my very own pink parking space right in the front Tyson’s (my favorite mall) so I can walk my 6.5 size foot right on in the front entrance in a matter of seconds. Sounds like a plan to me. What do you guys think?

I know a lot of my friends and family live by Target because they have really cute clothes for good prices. Well, Target is stepping it up another notch and is featuring a line from Rodarte, a very cute, very expensive designer that features four figure tags.  A leather bomber jacket is $3,450, a hand knit skirt will cost you $2,185 and leather cut out thigh-highs are $920! But don’t worry you won’t be paying those prices; Rodarte’s line at Target will be a part of the Go International chain and will consist of 55-pieces, all prices ranging from $9.99 for knee highs to $79.99 for a leopard print  jacket. 

The line will hit stores this December and will run thru February. Perfect timing for the holidays and holiday parties (Rodarte is known for it’s evening clothes so it goes hand in hand). I’m very excited to see the line come out and how sisters Kate and Laura Mulleavy (the designers behind Rodarte) use their knack for detail and translate it to the Go International Chain. Damn I love Target.

So everyone who knows me knows that Sex & the City is one of my favorite movies (and shows) of all time! I was one of those losers who waited in line loooooong before the movie started, I dressed up like I was going to the Emmy’s, and forced my (straight) guy friends to go see it haha. And, to know surprise of mine, the movie was everything I needed it to be: funny, indulging, sexy, everything I ever expected.

So how freaking happy do you think I was when I found out that there was going to be a SATC sequel coming out (supposedly) next year. I’m not exactly sure what they are going to extend on? (Carrie having a baby? Samantha finding a new boo? New York legalizing gay marriage so Stanford can get hitched?) I don’t know but I’m excited! 

Now what makes me even happier, and should make some of you even more excited, is that anyone can have a chance to actually BE in the upcoming movie! The crew is looking for extras to be “models, celebrity types, socialites, clubgoers, gays and lesbians, international types (Middle Eastern, Arabic, Asian, European, British) and professional soccer players.” The open call is taking place in NYC on Tuesday August 4th at Metropolitan Pavilion (125 West 18th Street between 6th and 7th Aves). Screen Actors Guild members are welcome from 10am-12:30pm. Everyone else roll out from 1:30pm-4pm. If you can’t make the open call, e-mail a recent picture and contact info to sexandthecity2@gwcnyc.com.

Despite the recession, Barbie is having a great year (wish I could say that for the rest of us lol). She turned 50 and kicked off her birthday this year by premiering at New York Fashion Week for Fall 2009, wearing 50 looks by 50 different designers; some being Alexander Wang, Betsey Johnson, Diane von Frustenberg, Michael Kors and Rachel Roy who all created something special for Barbie to wear for her birthday and highlighted the progression of Barbie over the past 50 years.

Even better news for the woman we all loved growing up, she’s now going to be featured in Vogue Italia, the Black Issue this upcoming year. Last year Vogue Italia featured models like Naomi Campbell and Jourdan Dunn for this issue to highlight black heritage but because of Barbie’s iconic birthday, they decided to do something more creative. I think this is great because of the portrayal of diversity in the fashion world and how far our society has come. (I wonder why America has never tapped into this, especially since we are labeled the “mixing bowl”?) 

The first black doll made by Matell was created in 1967 and was later followed by the first “Black Barbie” in 1980. She started off as a friend of Barbie named Francie and eventually got her own identity. This fall Matell will have a collection of black Barbie dolls called the “So In Style” dolls which will portray the dolls with more black authentic features such as a wider nose, fuller lips and curly hair. 

The Editor-in-Chief of Vogue Italia, Franca Sozzani, stated “Barbie has been an icon for whole generations which is why I really wanted to give a strong sign in step with the times, and dedicate the anniversary issue to Black Barbie.”

Ms. Wintour, you might wanna catch up to Italia, they’re doing big things across seas.

P.S. Rihanna is said to be the cover of a future Vogue Italia and that’s supposedly why she cut her hair. Can’t wait to see how that all plays out…stay tuned

Not really, but it kind of seems like she is. Everyone seems to be cutting their hair recently. Not only cutting it but shaving half of it off as well. These ladies are crazy. But I guess you can do that when you have a lot of money and can get extensions put on if you really wanted to. Whatever the case may be, I appreciate what God gave me and I think I’ll just leave it be. However I do like Ciara’s hair,  I think it’s cute. But she’s borderline looking like Rihanna right now…hmmmm. What do you think of Ciara’s new ‘do’?

Marc Jacobs has launched two gay right’s t-shirts in his Marc by Marc Jacobs accessory store in the West Village (385 Bleecker Street). Both stating “I pay my taxes I want my RIGHTS!” Personally I thought the one with the two women (presumably a lesbian couple) was interesting because of the way they are portrayed, little black dresses and stilettos, with a daughter who is also sporting an LBD. The shirts are priced at $24 and supposedly are selling at the boutique. I think the shirts are cute and it’s great people are making a stand for the rights they believe in; not surprising from Marc Jacobs who is innovative and makes a stand on mostly all the items he puts into production. What do you think about the shirts?

One of my favorite shows in the world is coming back August 20 on Lifetime (previously on Bravo)…Project Runway! Yayyyy pizza for everyone!! Lol, but really I absolutely love this show. I think they find extremely talented designers who portray their talent and keep us entertained. This definitely isn’t one of those shows where there is suspect talent and only like 3 people are good. No my friend, usually almost half of them are amazing and it’s hard to pick out who you really love. My all time favorite was definitely Christian Siriano (FIERCE!) and he’s definitely doing his thing, like designing clothes for many starlets and showing at NYC fashion week. 

Other good news, Lifetime will also have a show called Models of the Runway which will feature the 16 models who walk for the designers. Usually no one cares that much about them but they are also competing for a prize — a feature in Marie Claire. I think this will be interesting because we never really get to see their prospective from the show. Models of the Runway will premiere right after Project Runway.

But the good news doesn’t stop there compadres; Lifetime is ALSO supposedly having an “all-star” Project Runway to air a few weeks before the show actually starts. Cast members may include Chris March, Jeffrey Sebelia, Michael Knight, Daniel Vosovic, Santino Rice, Kenley Collins (an FSU alumni), Sweet P, Korto Momolu, and possibly more. (Christian Siriano, Rami Kashou, Jack Mackenroth, Kit Pistol, and Laura Bennett turned down the offer). 

This is some great stuff if you’re into fashion, design, models, etc. I can’t wait for the season to start and all the great fall shows (America’s Next Top Model, Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, etc.) to get going. So many great shows are now coming on Thursday night…aahh the magic of TiVo!

Hahaha! I think she is hilarious. What looks to be like one of the characters of Sesame Street or the Muppets (not sure which one but I’m sure my nephew you could tell you) was actually made by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac for his fall 2009 collection — which will probably run into the thousands of dollars according to Seven New York who carries JCC’s line. I honestly feel like only SHE could pull this off because the rest of us would just look ridiculous. Keep stylin’ on them Ms. Gaga.

When The Fashion Show on Bravo first aired, which is hosted by Isaac Mizrahi (a great designer) and Kelly Rowland, my sister and I thought, why the hell is she hosting?? What’s her credibility?? And as I watched the show all she could really account for as her background was the fact that she attended fashion shows…? Okay, and?

But now, another non-fashion-forward-go-getter is trying to get in the fashion biz. Lindsay Lohan. Okay, I’m definitely not a Lindsay Lohan hater, I actually really like her and think she’s a great actress; keyword, actress. But I definitely don’t think I would ever want to listen to her about fashion. First she created a spray tanner, then leggings (please leave that to American Apparel they are doing a great job), and now her and her business partner Kristi Kaylor are creating a production company, Unforgettable Productions. They are supposedly making a show called Faux Real which is suppose to be somewhat like Entourage but with a fashion spin. Come on.

No doubt would I watch the show just to see what it’s about but I wish that everyone would stay in their fields unless they:
                              A) have some background knowledge
                              B) have a keen sense of style, or
                              C) could just dress!

Not gonna lie though, if Rihanna, Teyana Taylor or Lady Gaga made a show, I might not be that mad
