One of my favorite shows in the world is coming back August 20 on Lifetime (previously on Bravo)…Project Runway! Yayyyy pizza for everyone!! Lol, but really I absolutely love this show. I think they find extremely talented designers who portray their talent and keep us entertained. This definitely isn’t one of those shows where there is suspect talent and only like 3 people are good. No my friend, usually almost half of them are amazing and it’s hard to pick out who you really love. My all time favorite was definitely Christian Siriano (FIERCE!) and he’s definitely doing his thing, like designing clothes for many starlets and showing at NYC fashion week.
Other good news, Lifetime will also have a show called Models of the Runway which will feature the 16 models who walk for the designers. Usually no one cares that much about them but they are also competing for a prize — a feature in Marie Claire. I think this will be interesting because we never really get to see their prospective from the show. Models of the Runway will premiere right after Project Runway.
But the good news doesn’t stop there compadres; Lifetime is ALSO supposedly having an “all-star” Project Runway to air a few weeks before the show actually starts. Cast members may include Chris March, Jeffrey Sebelia, Michael Knight, Daniel Vosovic, Santino Rice, Kenley Collins (an FSU alumni), Sweet P, Korto Momolu, and possibly more. (Christian Siriano, Rami Kashou, Jack Mackenroth, Kit Pistol, and Laura Bennett turned down the offer).
This is some great stuff if you’re into fashion, design, models, etc. I can’t wait for the season to start and all the great fall shows (America’s Next Top Model, Ugly Betty, Grey’s Anatomy, etc.) to get going. So many great shows are now coming on Thursday night…aahh the magic of TiVo!
Okay so you know how Lady Gaga is never wearing pants? And it seems someone always has something to say about it? Well she slapped us all in the face and decided to wear this…….
Hahaha! I think she is hilarious. What looks to be like one of the characters of Sesame Street or the Muppets (not sure which one but I’m sure my nephew you could tell you) was actually made by Jean-Charles de Castelbajac for his fall 2009 collection — which will probably run into the thousands of dollars according to Seven New York who carries JCC’s line. I honestly feel like only SHE could pull this off because the rest of us would just look ridiculous. Keep stylin’ on them Ms. Gaga.
Like I’ve said before, one of the most annoying things to me is celebrities who try to venture into the fashion world without having one lick of fashion knowledge. I gave my props to Kanye because he is actually trying to learn the business inside and out while also doing his own thing as a rapper. But some of these lame celebrities need to keep at what they are here for — acting, singing, just standing there, whatever.
When The Fashion Show on Bravo first aired, which is hosted by Isaac Mizrahi (a great designer) and Kelly Rowland, my sister and I thought, why the hell is she hosting?? What’s her credibility?? And as I watched the show all she could really account for as her background was the fact that she attended fashion shows…? Okay, and?
But now, another non-fashion-forward-go-getter is trying to get in the fashion biz. Lindsay Lohan. Okay, I’m definitely not a Lindsay Lohan hater, I actually really like her and think she’s a great actress; keyword, actress. But I definitely don’t think I would ever want to listen to her about fashion. First she created a spray tanner, then leggings (please leave that to American Apparel they are doing a great job), and now her and her business partner Kristi Kaylor are creating a production company, Unforgettable Productions. They are supposedly making a show called Faux Real which is suppose to be somewhat like Entourage but with a fashion spin. Come on.
No doubt would I watch the show just to see what it’s about but I wish that everyone would stay in their fields unless they:
A) have some background knowledge
B) have a keen sense of style, or
C) could just dress!
Not gonna lie though, if Rihanna, Teyana Taylor or Lady Gaga made a show, I might not be that mad 🙂
What do you think..Do you watch these celebrity fashion shows? Do you even consider celebrities when it comes to fashion?
Paris Fashion Week is still going on in France, Haute Couture style. Many of the designers made fabulous, fabulous pieces (which I’ll never be able to afford) but are good to look at nonetheless. Yesterday Chanel, Christian Lacroix, Elie Saab, Jean Paul Gaultier, and Valentino showed. Sadly, this might be Christian Lacroix’s last show because of the bankruptcy of his fashion house. Let’s hope for the best but prepare for the worst. Here are some of the masterpieces from the designers plus click the pics to see full collections.

There have been a NUMBER of robberies in Atlanta this past month and June that included robbers stealing literally millions of dollars in jeans. WOW. Well, this past week they finally arrested 11 suspects in the thefts, three adults and eight juveniles. Now that is a complete mess.

My sister teaches in APS (Atlanta Public Schools) and she tells me how bad those kids are but damn, they are OC. They have hit over 70 retailers, including Macy’s at Lenox Square Mall and several other boutiques in the Atlanta area. The robbers would clean out the stores in one to three minutes stealing everything from jeans, sportswear and other items. And they definitely didn’t like the cheap stuff — they got many, many designer names. Not gonna lie, those are some really good thieves but is it really worth it? Maybe for the juvies because if they go to jail they’ll be out by 18, but the adults, who are charged with damage to property, felony obstruction, and theft by receiving, may be going away for a good minute. Well I hope they sold some and stashed the money away somewhere, at least to have it when they get out.
Kanye West released his new Louis Vuitton shoe’s this past week and in most places, they sold out FAST (sorry Carrington). I’m really not surprised though because they are HOT (I hope they come out in women’s or at least little boys lol). And I have to say I really do have soooo much respect for Kanye and the goals he wants to accomplish. Nothing bothers me more than celebrities who make clothing lines but have absolutely no talent, experience or passion for it. They are just looking for another way to make some money. But Kanye has taken it a step further to actually learn the insides of the business by first, interning with Louis Vuitton and now it is rumored he is interning with Gap to learn more about the business as well. In the fashion industry a lot of no talent celebrities and celebrities kids get to be apart of something many others work very hard for and it’s finally nice to see someone actually working for what they want. Good job Kanye. Now go tell Marc Jacob to make some more shoes so I can cop them joints 😉
Prices Range From $700-$1140

So I basically live for Fashion Week, in any city and any collection (spring, fall, resort, whatever!). So you can imagine my excitement that this is Paris Fashion Week for Haute Couture Fall/Winter 2009-2010 Collection. It’s only the first day but here’s some of the pics from a few designers who have already presented. One of the major trends already seen is sheer. Less and less clothes is seriously growing in popularity! I’ll keep you posted during the week.
